Hearts Desire
Twice today alone I was asked the question, “Can you promise me my relationship is going to work?” I remember asking that question myself, to psychics at 2:00 am and to therapists charged with fixing broken things. The bottom line is we never know. Relationships often surprise me, for better and for worse. When two hearts collide there are simply too many “x” factors to say that anything is predictable.
When I’m asked that question, my answer is always the same. “I don’t know. However, I do know this, if we follow your heart, you will be happy with the outcome, no matter what.” I think that applies in relationships and every other area of our lives.
The heart knows. Where we get into trouble is when we try to convince our hearts of something different than what it knows to be true. We always feel discomfort when we aren’t following our hearts desire. It’s like going against the grain of our true nature. I think anytime we find ourselves confused, frustrated, or in pain it’s because we are out of alignment with our hearts calling. The heart has questions and the answers all at the same time.
The only real question is are you willing to move away from your pain and towards your desire at any cost when the ultimate prize is happiness? Are you willing to believe your heart holds the key to unlocking your dreams?
So, today the second person who asked the question and got my standard answer, replied this way, “I don’t care what my heart wants. I want him.” We’ve all been there, wanting what we want, even when it’s hurting us. It’s a short lived game though, because eventually it becomes to0 painful to sustain. The heart always steers us back to it’s desire, which is why pain and suffering rarely last forever. It’s also why following your hearts desire isn’t a frivolous pursuit. It’s the straight path to alignment with everything that’s good and perfect in your world.
